About the Painting

Garr has been fascinated by the elaborate firework tower displays called castillos (firework castles) that are common in Mexico during fiestas or celebrations – particularly in plazas and street festivals.

For several years he has wanted to capture the excitement and movement of one of these colossal, erupting towers of pyrotechnics in a painting. He has finally realised this ambition...
